Eye Treatment Charges at Wills Eye
How charges work, what makes one treatment cost more than another, and how to know your figure before you travel.
How are charges worked out?
Our aim is transparent costs and only the treatment you actually need. Because eye treatment ranges from a single examination to surgery, there is no one price list that fits every patient — but there is always a figure you can ask for before anything is done.
What does a first visit cost?
A basic eye examination is affordable. Call us for the current charge before you travel — the front desk will tell you, and will say whether any tests are likely to be needed on the same day.
Why do some treatments cost more than others?
- Tests. Some conditions are diagnosed at the slit lamp; others need scans such as OCT, visual field tests or fundus photographs. What is needed depends on what the doctor finds.
- Treatment type. Eye drops, an out-patient laser, a course of injections and an operation are very different in cost.
- Implants and materials. In cataract surgery the lens you choose is the largest single difference — see cataract surgery cost.
- Follow-up. Some conditions, such as glaucoma and retinal disease, are managed over months or years rather than in one visit.
Is my treatment covered by insurance?
Many treatments are covered by health insurance and cashless TPA schemes, subject to your policy. Bring your insurance or TPA card and a photo ID; the front desk raises the pre-authorisation and, once approved, eligible costs are settled directly with the insurer. See cashless and TPA support for the steps.
Can I pay in instalments?
EMI options are available for planned treatment. Ask the front desk when you receive your estimate.
How do I get an estimate?
- Book a consultation, or call first if you are travelling a long way.
- After the examination, the doctor explains what is recommended and why.
- Ask for a written estimate, and what it includes, before you agree to any procedure.
