No. It is caused by physical stiffening of the lens. Eye exercises may relieve strain but cannot restore the lens’s flexibility.
Will my reading power keep increasing? +
Yes, gradually, until around the age of sixty-five, after which it usually stabilises. Expect a review every one to two years.
Are ready-made reading glasses from a shop harmful? +
They rarely damage the eye, but they use the same power for both eyes and a standard optical centre, so many people get headaches and blur from them.
Is there a surgery for presbyopia? +
Yes — multifocal and EDOF lens implants, usually performed when a cataract is present anyway. We assess whether your eyes and expectations suit them.
